News from the German Evaluation Society (DeGEval)

Initiative for the enhancement of commissioner's competence

Not only evaluators, but also commissioners need a certain knowledge and experience concerning succesful evaluations. Commissioners are confronted with several tasks during the tendering procedure. They should clarify demands on the evaluation and provide important information for the evaluation tender (ToRs). Furthermore they should be able to select the best tender in matters of quality, suitability and finances, monitor the evaluation process in a contructive way and support the utilisation of evaluation results. In order to develop commissioner's competence, the German Evaluation Society (DeGEval) has set up a working group, where evaluation experts and experienced commissioners compile orienting materials. Hans-Peter Lorenzen, board member of the DeGEval is in charge of the coordination.
